Canberra is a hole :-)

Isn’t it nice, when a saying translates litrally into another language? It must be true then, right?
Nevertheless, our trip to Canberra was an interesting one (I’m writing this in English, just because I’m at Uni and don’t have a German keyboard, and this circumvents the :”Umlaut” problem). It all started with a nice breakfast in Sydney’s West. Pt’s aunt Margret was visiting her doughter for a week and wanted to go back to Canberra this Saturday, therefore we gave her a lift. We got a really nice breakfast and a lot of fun on the road in return, so that was a good deal.
Everything went smoothly until the car suddenly decided to overheat constantly. That was about 100kms out of Sydney, still 200 more to go. So we took our time, having a lot of breaks and supplying the car with water. A nice little country-town was selected for lunch. We also payed a visit to the local antique shop, which was really lovely.
We then finaly made it to Canberra, where an awesome BBQ was waiting for us. Janet, her partner and “kids” (Ben’s one of the three
) which I’ve all met at the wedding couple of weeks ago, threw a great party. And a round of poker with Ben’s and Liyam’s friends was also up that night. Awesome, I won 10 bucks!
Sleeping on the floor - but for free - was also alright. Sunday Pt and I went to the Australian National Museum, which was quite impressive, had lunch with her grandma in the Old Parliament House and went to the new Parliament House for sightseeing purposes. The day ended at the War Memorial, right after we’ve been to the Art Gallery and the Sculpture Garden nearby.
Thankfully the car didn’t give as any hard times on our way back to Sydney. Thanks again Ben for looking after it on Sunday!
So, all in all it was a nice trip, but 24 hours for it is definitly enough. It’s quite interesting how the whole city is widly spread-out and how you drive through forests if you wanna go from one suburb to the other. There are no cars on the roads, and there isn’t a real city centre. Very, very different to, let’s say European capitals like Paris or London ![]()

Gelesen. Kommentiert. Um halb zehn Richtung MQ Village gerast. Shit, Polizei hinter mir. Mist, Blaulicht an.
